A "subspecies" found only in Somalia, Southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya. It has a very distinctive pattern, and is in my view a very photogenic Giraffe.
Taken in the Shaba Conservancy, Norhern Kenya the area in which Joy Adamson had her last camp before being murdered.

8 commentsthey are lovely giraffes, never seen them personally, but a lovely photo of one here Ken
An impressive subspecie and lovely coat, but the terrain appears to be 'not in good shape'.

Thanks for the comments, must be seen live to really appreciate the beauty
Ken,
Technically sound and well-documented. Your list of photographed species must be impressive.

Brad,
It is if you bother to count them, I like to share images of animals others may not have had the chance to see, in much the same way that I like seeing "new" animals and/or birds.
That is one stunning giraffe you found Ken. You really do get around the continent and get to see a wide variety of animals in an even wider variety of terrain. Can you sense the jealousy? :) Well done with this one and I like that you captured it with a bit of scenery in the background.
Fabulous capture Ken . . . Very nice colour on the giraffe
