Some of the recently developed varities of coneflowers are very colorful. I moved in close to shoot this one in a tight grouping of mixed colors. Coneflowers, Fellows Riverside Gardens, Youngstown. D600, 150 macro, 1/800, f4.5, iso 200, hh. Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. ![]()

10 commentsScott - I have always admired your Coneflower photos which displayed amazingly good compositions and this one is no different. Absolutely love this - nice colors and very painterly and textured background.
The color coordination here is great, Scott and I like the tight view. There's a nice sense of movement even though the image is sharp where it needs to be. Yes, there are some fine new colors of Coneflowers and this is clearly one of them. As an aside, a friend who's a butterfly expert claims that the new varieties don't attract butterflies...do you see any evidence of that?
Not sure, Mark. I'll have to watch. They do attract bees, though.
Almost grunge colors, but not quite. Certainly different from what I am used to seeing in cone flowers. I like it anyway. Everybody needs their palate shaken up now and then!
Scott: Just a great shot! Love the implied movement and the color palette especially. Many thumbs up! >=))>
Thanks, Bill. Being a co-color junkie, I thought you might like this one.
The colors are beautiful, excellent point of focus & use of f/4.5 in this very artistic comp.
I've tried this but can't quite get to where I wanna go
Wish you wouldn't set the bar so high Scott
Excellent work!

This is gorgeous, Scott! I love the feel of the photo.

The dynamism of the pink forms intruding upon the yellow petals of the main subject works a treat, Scott. All the touches of sharpness along the focal plane catch the eye perfectly. Lovely !
