Listed as an uncommon permanent resident here in northern Utah, this Gray Partridge and his mate appeared at our place twice this past week. The first as we were departing for an appointment and no opportunity to really observe closely. The second while they took a dust bath at the end of our garlic bed. They departed by walking through the shadows and tall grass with a brief glimpse in a sun streaked opening in shorter grass that I was able to get two frames of the male as he darted for more cover. Not an artistic shot, but an addition to the unusual and rare visitors we have encountered here this year. Thanks for looking. Canon 7Dii, 400 2.8 w/ 1.4 ext., ISO 800. 1/400 @ f6.3 PP LR4

3 commentsInteresting mix of 'sun-streaked' light & shadow, you managed the exposure well Neil.
Great details, nice job with the very limited number of shots you were able to pull off.
Nice, Neil. Excellent job getting it completely in the open even for a second. Great documentary shot.
Hi Neil
What can you do birds walk were they want to. Nice black lighting.
