Magnolia Blossom & RePost

I have been trying to take an image of a magnolia blossom that I liked.

Nikon D750 Nikon 24-120. F8 1/80 ISO 200. Spot meter. Tripod.

I wanted to incorporte old fallen leaves on the ground as a contrast to the brand new blossom. Some old and new leaves too.

Does this work ? Detail in the blossom itself visible when enlarged.

Trying to improve my flower images so any comment or critique is much appreciated.

Andrew - Lovely frame. Good handling of the whites and adding that background with brown leaves surely gives some more contrast.

On the other hand, the photo looks somewhat flat. Bump up the contrast/saturation a little more ?

The repost is definitely better! Lovely, pristine Magnolia blossom. Difficult to find and catch one like this.devil

Andrew - Notice how grey the whites look in both your versions. Check the histogram and then adjust the Levels or Use Curves to make whites look white.

The final version is excellent, Andrew !  Love the composition - how you've managed to include the leafy backdrop without its being distracting in any way; the flower is perfectly placed and beautifully executed.
