Last month I took a trip to Nome, Alaska led by Ken Archer. While the weather was a little challenging, we got out there and really found just about everything that was on my list. The Rock Ptarmigan was for some reason a little more elusive than usual, but on the last day we were able to find a couple of cooperative subjects. For those that have never been to Nome, I highly recommend a trip there.

A very lovely capture Charlie ! Glad you saw most of the things you wanted to see. Looking forward to see more Nome postings of yours ! Wish I was there !
Dude, you were in Alaska and didn't stop by?
A sweet shot of a mid-molt bird. Nice.
Charlie,
Great image that foreground is amazing
Great detail/DOF, colors, light, and natural setting Charlie.
I like the comp and he's looking at ya too.. Sounds like you had a great trip!
Very interesting bird, Charlie. Nice image.
Nice low angle on this Charlie and he gave you a nice look also. Good to see a Ptarmigan image...my normal sport for them has not been accessible yet this year due to the road on Mt Evans in Colorado being closed still....so at least I get to enjoy them through your lens!
Excellent techs Charlie-a really nice habitat image. Love to get up there sometime.
A very pleasing compositon Charlie. And a great alert pose you catured of this handsome male. The large version is a must see!
It was a pleasure having you along with us this year Charlie, your sense of humor brightened those soggy chilly days.
A Beauty
Great head turn, love that textured multi colored background Charlie
Thanks, everyone! As it was my first time in Nome, I didn't know what to expect. First of all, I am really glad that Ken is the kind of guy that likes to get out there and find birds... no matter what the conditions. It's Alaska, so we had some weather on some of the days we were there, but Ken's perserverence through rain, sleet, and snow is what got us nearly every bird on my wish list. I will be going back, and thanks for everything.
