Dry as Dirt

The driest place in Oregon. We had some rare wonderful clouds last week, which turned my mind to photography. Many delightful hours were spent shooting this lake bed with suspended clouds. When I finally exhausted myself of the matter I thought what other compositions could I create. Turning to the ground below I made several, each one a bit better than the earlier one, until I was satisfied with this one.

Canon 6D, 24-105 @ 24mm, iso 100, f11.0, 1/30 sec.

Very little postprocessing was done. Contrast was increased a tad because the light was a bit flat at that moment.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Really my cup of tea, Igor! The leading line is effective, but what I like the most is the contrast between the patterns in the track, and the patterns outside of it. Very nice shot of a very interesting phenomenon. Processing looks spot on btw.

Excellent, Igor. I like this a lot.  Great patterns and lines with very eye-pleasing colors. Works all around for me.

This one is very appealing Igor looks like the skin of the big guy in the Fantastic Four.  Nice shot.

This is fabulous.  I love the snaking line of the tire (or water?) track, and especially the inability to reconcile whether it is concave or convex.  I really like this.

I realy enjoy images like this, Igor. There are some beautiful golden colors which I don't see too often. The variety of shapes and forms is very engaging. No suggestions here.

Very interesting image. Great color, contrasts, textures, patterns and a strong leading line.

Thank you for all the kind comments. I really appreciate them.

Harley, I've decided that we are kindred spirits in photography. We both like the same genre in landscape photography.

I usually don't like to comment on my own images because it biases the reader but I feel pretty good about this one.

Looks like a snake under the sand created this.  The angled flow brings me through the image perfectly.  Processed perfecly for me.  Might make a nice BW as well and you could further up the contrast.

I have a hard time commenting on abstracts, they either just appeal to me or not... This is about as good as they get for me, there is nothing I would do to improve it.

The soft light really brought out the subtle textures. The pattrens are wonderful, and I love the curve. Very nice abstract, Igor.

Love everything about this Igor, no nits from me on a superb image. Is this the Alvord?

This is indeed the Alvord desert in eastern Oregon. Sometimes I accidentally call it Alvorado due to my roots in L.A.

The light tan colors are very nice, as is the curving channel though th emud cracks.  You might play with a tiny crop off the bottom to where the botton edge of the channel meets the right side and see if that is to your liking.
