Dianne and I went down to see the sunset and the new moon, and I was set up for shots of the sunset with the pier in the foreground. Mother Nature did not cooperate with a vivid sky in that direction, but when I turned around and faced toward the south look what I found. Taken July 31, 2015 in Newport Beach, California just south of the Newport Pier.
Nikon D800 Nikkor 24-120 24mm 1/4 f/11 ISO100 White Balance Auto RAW Tripod with a ball head. Processed in LightroomCC2015, PhotoshopCC2015, NIK and TK.

3 commentsThe 1/4th sec. is, for me, what makes this an excellent image. If I am photographing a sunset, I have learned to look all around. You never know what is going on behind (usually something beautiful-as here).
Patrick: I really like the diagonal of the wave as well as the smoothness of the water. The brightly colored pail adds a visual anchor to the bottom of the photo. The warm light is very pleasing. Richard
Lovely light and a greatsky. The wave action, the people and the bucket add a nice dimension to this.
It can often pay dividends to turn around!
