Lip Smackin' Good

I sometimes have scraps and/or dog food that our three dogs don't eat..

So rather than throw it away, I'll put it out front from time to time. Here the gray fox is licking its chops after eating, primarily because it just had to eat past the ants covering the food. It's interesting to watch how the animal picks up each piece & first tosses it around a bit to shake off the ants. So obviously the fox's not picky about what it eats, our dogs are just too damn spoiled of course.. It's all her faultsad

F/6.3, 1/640th, ISO 500, 5DM2, 300mm f/2.8 + 2x ext. @ 10:24am in the shade, sunlit BG.

Excellent candid shot of this little fox enjoying the left overs, Howard. Speaking of spoiled, our dog and cat keep my wife and I on a very short leash.....sad

I know what you mean about the ants the fox is contending with too. Although our animals are real indoor guys so they have no idea about the ant problem, but our poor next door neighbor dog use to suffer with that eating arrangement until I fixed it years back now. While the family was on vacation I went to see how the dog was doing and noticed ants throughout her food dish. So I built an arrangement with a water moat that keeps the ants out her dish now. And, the neighbors were actually smart enough to see what I'd done and they replenish the water in the moat to this day as needed.

Gotta take of our critters and the wild guys like this cute fox too.....cool

Very nice looking little fox. I like the fun expression of the lick. Processing looks great. Very enjoyable viewing.

Nice shot of the fox, and nice action, too. You might consider a crop from the top. I like the natural colors and the fact you caught nice detail in his eye.
