Solidified lava stram in Iceland's Krafla eruption site. The entire site is an absolutely stunning place with steam emanating from cracks and volcanos all around, but once in a while it pays of to focus on more intimate scenes. I was not sure if I should post this in macro and close-up, but in fact, it's not that close-up. So, here you go.

5 commentsA really wild abstract here, Basil. As it's presented I can't see a need for any change, it's kind of one of those scenes that is just a bit of nature's freakiness out there......
Pretty cool, crazy abstract. It does feel a tad too busy for me. When I see scenes like this, I look for ways I can narrow my vision so that I can home in on the details. You did a nice job on this one, though, and the processing looks good to my eye.

The right quarter of the image seems to have lost a bit of contrast relative to the rest of the scene. Amazing amount of color in that chaos. I thought it was a close-up of some tree bark from the thumbnail!
What a lovely abstract, Basil. The colors are beautiful. This is the kind of scene that most of us wouldn't even see, much less photograph. Nicely done.
Agree with Preston, it's a bit busy.
