Osprey Approach

One of the pair of Osprey's I was photographing a week or so ago.  This shot was a bit far so it's a fairly heavy crop, but I think it held up reasonably well and I liked the head-on pose.

7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/7.1, 1/1600, iso 500, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 stop compensation which worked out just about right for the hazy sky in the bg.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 5.6MP from the 20MP original.  Taken at our local natural area on August 11th at 7:09 am under hazy skies.

I really appreciate all the cmments on the Bluebird and look forward to getting your feedback on this image.

Thanks,

Dennis, I really like this pose and the osprey's wing position.  Great front on view.  Large crop is not noticeable.  Nice and sharp with zero noise.

Plenty sharp for a fair crop.  Looks like that 7D II is really working well for you.  Head on shots are not my favorites, but this one certainly works well.
