This location is east of Glacier National Park. I had been driving all day from another location; the sun was setting and I didn't have time to get to any of the iconic/interesting spots in the Glacier park boundaries, so I just pulled off the road, sprinted over a hill and quickly found this comp that I liked.
This is a 2-image blend for dynamic range; color adjustments in PS, plus luminosity masks for dodge/burn and levels adjustments. Your thoughts? Nit picking encouraged.

9 commentsI'd say you did an outstanding job given the canvas you were presented with Jared. I really like the warm and inviting feel of this image. I'm confident this was just a sign of things to come for your visit into the park. 🍺

Thanks for sharing, sometimes time is not an available quantity and one has to work by instinct. Good result! I do like the use of multiple images as opposed to Grad filters which always look fakey to me.

Hey Jarred, I like the mirrored clouds and foreground rocks, but mostly I think this is a great example of how your processing skills and style have evolved. Like many of your more recent images, it has a wonderful painterly feel to it and just begs to be hung on the wall, even though the subject matter isn't all that dramatic or intense. As far as nit-picking, the only thing I see is that the rock just left of center seems a tad bright to me, moreso than the rest of the foreground.
Has a 3D feeling. Nice light in the foreground and nice sky. Well done.
You had some very nice light for this, the FG is a 10....
Jared, I really like this image! Excellent job finding a comp that works so well in the short time you had. I'm enjoying the look and feel you captured so nicely here. Beautiful scene in wonderful light.
I gotta agree with Thomas. It is a true measure of ones skills to be able to quickly formulate and translate a scene so beautifully. Nice work in a a sort of different environment than Utah. I hope all is well.
This sure works for me, Jared. The color is nicely balanced and looks very natural. I really like the foreground rocks and how they relate to the distant mountains. You did a nice job on this one.
