Woodpeckers are one of my favorite subjects. It seems that there are a lot of Redbellied, both male and female in the area, and they are pretty willing to come to a bowl of nuts, or in this case a small bowl of dried mealworms. This is a spring time photo, and I'm looking forward to the fall and winter possibilities.

12 commentsNice clean background contrasting well with the reds in the woodpecker. I like the diagonal perch. Good detail and sharp eye with catch light.
I like the interesting pose you caught.
Nice one, Jerry. It's a really cool pose and the image quality is superb.
Hi Jerry,
I like the pose, colors, and soft BG. Red Belly's are very photogenic and this one is no exception. Well done

A Simply Sweet Photo Jerry!
You captured a great pose of this beauty on a nice perch and a very nice compimentary background.
I really like the pose and the contrast from the BG really makes the woodpecker pop off the page. My only little though is I wish you had stopped down a bit more to get the entire perch in focus. Not having that doesn't take away form the image, but I do think it would improve the image. I'm not sure how deep the perch is or how far away form your BG the subject is, so hard to say from a viewer perspective if that was possible without ruining the BG bokeh.
