There are several individual pools along this chain of water holes in the eastern region of Zion. There was a large herd of about two dozen desert bighorn sheep wandering around this area most of the day. I spent a few hours photographing them (i.e. - the bighorn sheep) and was rewarded with a few really nice compositions. I kept hoping that some of them would get thirsty, but I didn't see one go for a drink all that day.

2 commentsJim, I always enjoy your images from Zion NP. I'd spent a many happy trip to this park over the years......
I like the scene as presented and like you would have only wished to catch some big horns drinking here too. Another fine rendition from this area.....
btw: I was lucky to see a big horn wandering around Checkerboard Mesa years ago. I was shooting 4x5 so no need to try and catch any shots of it, but it was plenty close at the time and a good healthy looking male also......
I really like the emphasis on the leading line of potholes here, Jim. The extra depth from the sunlit ridges in the background helps to create a fine sense of place. Sounds like a great area to spend some time in.
