This micro-landscape covers an area of about 3 by 5 inches.  The mushrooms and moss were growing on the inside of a knot on a stump.  I used Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks for shadow darks and lights and then bumped up the color saturation with Make It Glow at 4 pixels.  Details were enhanced with Topaz Details before final sharpening.  K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (1.3sec at f22, ISO 125)............................Jim

Great details Jim, and I like the comp you managed to pull out of what I might otherwise just view as a "clump."  The only thing I mights suggest is possibly darkening the right side -- perhaps with sort of a soft vignette -- because I find the brightness there just a bit distracting.

Hi Wayne,

Thank you for the critique. I added a Vignette using the lens correction filters in CS5 and masked out the center and left portions leaving the right-side somewhat darker...............................Jim

Jim, the repost works better for me. The mids look a tiny bit flat, so might look at a TK narrow mids mask. It doesn't need much. I like the color and the shapes of the schrooms.
