Cotton Candy

I'm usually not very lucky when it comes to clouds, but this morning the clouds were truly spectacular.  Add some sunrise color and it was a pretty amazing morning.

I hope the colors look realistic as they really were this vibrant and certainly did not need any enhancement.

Do you think it's too dark?  Is there anything I could do to make it a better photo?

This is wonderful, Carol.  I am positively drawn to the darkness of it all, but if the foreground were a tad brighter, I'd still be happy.  Very nice!

Hi Carol

Very nice colours and on the whole everything looks about right in terms of contrast and hue.  Just one cloud the little cotton wool one right of centre is pushing the limits of gamut a little harshly but everything else is fine.  I don't think you need any more out of the shadows as it helps to maintain the overall mood of the scene. It's very pretty.

I just had a look at the larger version it is actually much better handled in terms of colour gamut peaking on the larger view than the smaller image.

Definitely not too dark, Carol.  The lighting and colors look very realistic to me.  It's a beautiful scene where I wouldn't change a thing.

Beautiful scene Carol.  I suppose the foreground could be lightened some but it looks great as is.

This is beautiful, as is, and the larger version really shows it off. The light on the far peak and drama in the sky are fabulous. I think you could make the foreground a little lighter, though not much, just so we can see the trees on the far side and the colors in the water a little better. But even if you leave it as is, it's a winner.

I'm late to the party, Carol, but this is really sweet. No changes needed as I think this works very well as it is. Nicely done!

Carol, I like the composiiton and think the cloud color is plausible. Two suggestions I have would be to 1) add just a little clarity/midtone contrast to the mountains, and 2) darken the bright cloud on the left edge or crop it off.  This must have been a nice sight to see unfold in person that morning.
