It took almost two weeks of being in Montana, but on Friday, the dawn sky lit up like crazy. Here's a small section of what was a full 180 degree sunrise spectacle. I've toned down the red and magenta and this still has crazy colors. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 100mm, 1/50s, f/4, iso 200 and tripod)

10 commentsThat is one crazy sky, Mark. I love how the the large view really brings out the detail in the foreground with little or no noise. I might be tempted to to clone the brightest spot (which I assume is the sun peeking over the ridge line). Minor fix to an awesome image.
Aww, you had to wait two whole weeks? Last time I was in the open and saw a sky like that was 11 years ago! At least you didn't tell us how hard it was to interrupt your morning coffee so you could go out onto the deck and trip the shutter. ;^)
Seriously, this image was the first one since the site change that made me search the comment page to find those little emoticons. Nice find, and great job keeping both the sky and FG real.
Now for...

That is one amazing sunrise, Mark. Just wishing I had been there to see it too...
Nice work.

Hmmmmmm, I might leave my windmill sky as is now......
Mark, the larger version comes through again with allowing more detail in the dark area. A very neat open landscape, and of course the amazing sky. The only change I would make is the point Gary stated about the small bright spot on the ridge, seems a bit of an eye draw there. Otherwise, make a good size print of this one........
Wow, what a sky, Mark. The larger image is spectacular when it takes up the full screen.
Simply stunning. Enough said.
Great color and a wonderful sky. I like how you held some nice detail in the foreground while holding the sky in check.. It was a good morning, for sure, Mark!

Simply takes your breath away, can't say enough good things Mark.
Wouldn't change a thing.. I just wish I'd been there man
Very well done!
No other word can describe this - Stunning! Excellent, balance exposure Mark.
That is just great Mark! Love how you have both a pink and an orange part in the sky. Very nice.
