I haven't been doing much flora work lately and I really need to spend more time at this gallery-there's a lot of seriously beautiful work being done here. We had a very dry summer on what is supposed to be the wet side of the state this year and now that we're getting some rain everything thinks it's spring. I was out this morning and noticed this lupine (Lupinus lepidus) blooming again, so I though I should try to memorialize it.
5Fiii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, manual focus, 2 second time delay, f/13, 1/50, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Emphasized detail in the bloom a bit with Topaz Detail and removed a couple of oof distracting elements. I need to try this one again, because I noticed after the fact that I clipped the end of one of the leaflets in the main cluster.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for improvements.
Thanks,

Welcome, Dennis! Perfect depiction of a well isolated lupine on a drizzly morning.
Hi Dennis
Great to see you back.......A very fine capture of this beautiful plant. the water droplets, soft light and color make this a very special presentation

You did clip a leaf tip but it really doesn't detract that much. the bloom is perfectly positioned in the frame to catch and hold my attention. The rainy day feel to this makes me very nostalgic. Beautiful image
Very nice, Dennis. I like the low perspective and the well balanced comp with the inclusion of the nice leaf in the LRC.
Dennis, enjoyable portrait. I also like the water droplets. Thanks for sharing.
Ncely done, Dennis. Nice BG for a nice portrait.
