My Wife and the Ogre

No, that's not me!  I wouldn't be surprised to see this one multiple times as it's in one of the popular Redwood grove walks in N. California.  I do recall seeing someone post it elsewhere on NPN this year.

Canon P&S SX 260.  I took a coupleof shots of the burl with my other camera, but my wife handed me the P&S for this one.  I'm not sure what was with the settings, but it came out at 1/15s, f/4.5, iso 400, so I'm lucky to have it this sharp.

Cheers,

Excellent catch, Dennis and my complements to your wife for her sense of humor.  I'm having a hard time writing this because I'm laughing so hard.  That burl is amazing!  The image is well done with fine details.  The greens on the right add nicely.  This also has me thinking about the famous misquote from the Jimmy Hendrix song, where the misquote is "scuse me while I kiss this guy... "and the lyrics are actually "scuse me while I kiss the sky..." from the song Purple Haze.

That is a neat burl, and a brave lady!  Nicely composed photo, good detail in the wood.  Thanks for sharing.

Dennis: a fun shot. Hopefully with the ogre being placated, you were safe for the rest of your trip. enlightened Richard

I only hope you can't get "kissing diseases" from trees...

Looks like your wife fell in love with the big lug, Dennis!  Hope it worked out for you in the long run!  That's one monster burl and it's perfect for the challenge.  It's also a pretty impressive shot for 1/15 handheld!
