Here's an image from a place called "Blowing Rocks Preserve" which is the antithesis of a typical "Florida" coastline.  The beach here is lined with limestone shelves which jut out into the surf.  When there's a decent swell the surf slams into the limestone and shoots up - hence the name.

Nikon D7100 80-400mm f4 @ 80mm HH
f/8
ISO200
1/1250s

Minor crop, adjustments in LR5 and Perfect Effects 8

I like the action you have captured and the detail in the water. the lrc is a bit distracting to me. I don't know if you could get a little different angle to just get the smooth sand. When I looked at the larger mage and scrolled it down to eliminate the sand in the lrc it really moved my eye to the wave action. Now my attention is divided between that and the lrc.

That's a big kaboom, Luke, with great details in the splash.  The not fully formed splash at the far end works well for focusing attention in the foreground.  I'm amazed that the cloudy sky let you shoot this a 1/1250 and iso 200...that's bright.

Thanks guys for the feedback.  I have a lot of different shots so I'm sure I have something minus the distracting LRC.  As for the exposure, yes the sky was cloudy but at least 1/2 the image was white water and that reflects a lot of light

I love taking wave photos and looking at other people's wave photos and think this is extraordinary. I like the way the light is illuminating the most detailed parts of the waves. There's something both powerful and yet friendly about this.

I like the texture on texture nature of the wave spray on the BG clouds. This would be not nearly as good on a blue sky day. I had no idea there were any rocks in Florida ;-)
