Large Version Available

This was from my July trip to Iceland.  I have a vertical crop in mind as well, bit I figured I would post the full image.  I wish the nice light that had reached the peaks would have lit up the lower elevations but I was happy that I had some clearing at all.  A lot more snow than usual for this time of year.
Nikon B810D, 24-120 lens, ISO 200, f8, 1/1000 sec. to freeze the hikers / lessen chances of camera shake, handheld

Very nice, Harry, I like it. Did you have to push the bottom half of the frame a lot in post-processing? It appears to a wee bit noisier than the rest, but that's a minor nit.

Hi Basil - No, the image DR was not really a problem as there were no really bright areas to contend with.  Maybe web sharpening was more of the issue?  I added contrast in RAW processing globally maybe the fine details in the lower part were emphasized.  I know the left corner was a muddy mess riddled with tracks which does give it a texture that does appear a little unnatural to me.  The grass areas adjacent look fine to me.  Definitely not any noise apparent in the file as when shadows brought up more than they should be.  Thanks for the look.

This is a stunning landscape, Harry, with the patches of snow and various greens plus the many layers of ridges.  The hikers really set the scale well.

Way cool! Those patches of snow are so nice at this area, just ridiclulous. And this is one of those relatively rare instances (for me at least) where including humans gives the photo a whole lot extra.

Superb image and the hikers really make it better.  The clarity of this landscape area in this image is the best of all you images.  Thanks for your sharpening suggestions.

Harry,
This photo is so unusual that my right brain deduced it was an oil painting while my cognitive self knew it was a photo by virtue of where I was viewing it.  The shot is very evocative.  Like it just the way it is!

An impressive landscape with a very strong graphical impact, Harry!  Both exposure and composition are perfect and the inclusion of the hikers to provide scale really works nicely here.  The colors of the terrain are amazing and make the contrast with the snow patches even more impressive.  Very nicely seen and captured! devil

I continue to be wowed by your Iceland images, Harry. I just love the greens and yellows with the snow and the series of low ridges (lateral moraines??) that make movement across the image (and across the landscape) so interesting.  I too thought it perhaps had some noise issues, but the larger image is clean as a whistle.  Very nice!  I'm eager to see the vertical variation you are considering as well.
