Waiting for sunset on a hike in the Thorsmork region, Iceland. Pretty cold, but also pretty rewarding.

D610, 18-35 AF-S, tripod, blend of two exposures.

Looks like an awesome area, Basil.  The sunlit foreground is very attractive and the river and series of mountains show off the distant terrain very well.  The sunstar adds more interest and it's very well positioned.  Well seen and very well presented.

The view is a familiar one, though I never caught sunset from up there. Feels a little tilted CCW, but the river does flow that direction.  Wonderful lighting, not sure why you posted here vs landscape as I can't see any man made elements. Gorgeous lihting on the grasses, vrey intense.  What a gorgeous spot - Did you get to hike that pointy peak to the right, out of the frame.  I chickened out near the top whre footing was marginal, too windy.

Thanks for your comments! Harry, I posted this here because there are some hiking trails visible in the image, and it is my understanding that man-made structures are a no-go in the Landscape gallery. I don't think I hiked the peak you are referring to - I did the round-trip hike through troll's church, and I think the path to that peak would have branched off to the left close to there. I turned right, back towards Thorsmork valley.

You controlled the DR very nicely here, looks beautiful! My first reaction was that it was slightly tilted CCW, but I could be mistaken of course.

Basil,
Lovely shot with great dimension.  Really like the variety of color and the starburst sun.  It makes me want to visit there.

This is a gorgeous landscape, Basil!  The light is amazing and you did a superb job of handling the direct sunlight.  The large version is particularly nice because it provides much more of a sense of standing there and viewing this great expanse.  Very nice! devil
