Early Snow (WC)

This early snowfall in 2013 turned out to be a harbinger of a very long, cold, and snowy winter.  However, it did provide a unique and beautiful photo op. This is the November image in my 2016 Historic Mill Creek Park calendar which celebrates the 125th anniversary of Mill Creek Park, Ohio's first public park district. Covered Bridge, Mill Creek MetroParks, Youngstown. D600, 14-24 @17, .3, f20, iso 200. Thanks for looking. Suggestions, questions, thoughts, and other comments welcome. crying

I like the feel of this image, Scott. I can almost hear the trees screaming "It's too soon for this white stuff!" because they want the chance to strut their stuff first.  I also like that the fence leads the eyes up to that cool historic bridge.  I'm not fond of the clumpy white branches in the immediate foreground. I think a crop up from the bottom, to just above that sprig of yellow leaves would make a cleaner composition.  The top half of the photo is great; I have no suggestions.

Quite the snowfall, Scott.  Makes me nostalgic for the Michigan winters of my youth-but not enough to endure one!  The fall leaves on the trees make the feel of transition work.

This is an outstanding view, Scott, with lots of fall color showing through all of the heavy wet snow.  I'm really enjoying the overall warm yellow glow that's coming through the trees and the subtle focus on those few leaves at the bottom that aren't covered with snow.

Scott, although I'm not into the FG area here, this is a lovely scene. The fence railing and covered bridge in a winter coat is excellent. I would call it greeting card perfect.
If you wanted to get creative with cloning, cropping,  and content aware you might work the FG area a bit. The BG area is very appealing.

I'm really enjoying the fence leading to the bridge in this well thought out comp, scott. You've captured the WC perfectly.

My preference would actually be for a 5% crop off the top to reduce most of the brightest spots in the distance. The FG works for me as is.

The white, black, ochre combination here is just gorgeous, Scott, and the detail throughout the image is beautifully crisp.  I am at the moment in two minds over the w/a perspective and that leaning bridge.  It certainly makes for a dynamic composition, with the perspective from the fg fallen tree ( ? ) especially nice, but the power of the bridge entrance points my eye out to the L rather than deep into the image, which I find a touch disturbing. That, I guess, was the effect you wanted - and I may well grow to like it, as sometimes a very creative composition takes a while to sink in I find.
