Spring has Sprung

A couple of years ago in the now burned out Cache Creek Wilderness, transitioning from winter to spring... a bare tree, others just budding out, some scattered wildflowers on a steep slope above the creek.

Yep, Spring, sprang, and sprung...cool  I too, really enjoy the subtle colors of spring, Dave.  In some ways (probably because of the shift from cold dreary winters that the east coast tends to have), I find spring colors more enjoyable than fall colors.  This is a fine look at all of the subtle greens and yellows that defiine the spring leafing out, with those new leaves at the bottom and the bare tree in the middle.  The two bushes with a mix of green and red are well placed and add some fine color contrast.

Dave, I like the view from here but might make a couple changes for another look. It appears like there is magenta in a lot of areas which maybe brought on by too much blue saturation. I might also tighten up the left side with a crop into the bush on that bare upper hill area. I think the crop keeps me from looking to the bare spot there.

I'm not familiar with the Cache Creek Wilderness, where is this located?.......looks like a neat area to work.

I really like the layers in this, Dave.  An interesting POV as well.

Nicely done.

I also like your POV on this.  Nice to look down sometimes.  I am not sure I see a cast on my monitor and if I do, it is very faint.  The colors seem appropriately saturated.

Thanks for the comments, folks.

I went back to the image, Paul, looking for magenta and was very surprised to find you were right, there was more there than I imagined as it did not seem at all evident to me. Good eye! So I did a re-work, did some magenta de-sat (not sure it made a big difference to be honest) and tried the crop you suggested.

Dave, what a huge improvement the changes made, at least to me. Where I saw most of the magenta was in the stems of the ground brush. Also the crop immediately gave me more of a center focus on the scene and I did not have eye wander.
Works for me.....devil

Dave, the repost is in nicely improved.  It seems to be sharper as well as more tightly focused.

This is indeed a beautiful time of the year, and you portray it well.  (At this moment in time, many of us are caught up in the fall-to-winter transition, so it's great to see this one.)  I enjoyed the subtle colors in the original post, but the repost is even better.  Can't beat NPN for helping us find those finishing touches!
