Ice-o-bars

There were countless small puddles of water which had frozen over due to much colder temperatures in early November in the higher regions of Zion.  But isolating appealing compositions within the chaos of patterns was not as easy as it might seem.

Great title and no pressure coming up with that one.  This is a superb abstract of form color and texture.  Would also make a nice BW.  Well done.

I really like this. The colors, lines and textures all work very well together. It is not easy to see a good composition for an abstract like this, but you have seen and photographed it very well.

great title, Jim. It fits this perfectly. This is a fine abstract with great lines and textures. I like how the whites separate so well from the warm sandstone beneath the ice. Well done!

Jim,

Totally agree with Harley and others that you have come away with some beautiful work from Zion - and hope there's more!

This one is not exception.  Wonderful patterns.  I can see how one could have a field day with this kind of subject. I know I would be going bonkers!  I really have no nits or suggestions.  Simply a great comp and arrangement of lines - oh, and the detail of the ice is wonderful too.  Could look at this all day.

Jim, I would expect isolating appealing compositions in that chaos to be extremely difficult, so the fact that you've been so successful so many times is a testament to your skill. Great work!

Wonderful ice abstract Jim.  I love the intricate detail and repeating patterns in the ice.  A very appealing composition I think.

Magic, can get lost in all the images.  The strong lines  provide a good strucrure to to explore the miniature details. Very interesting photo, Jim.

Fine abstract.  The various textures very appealing, as are the hues.
