In the Assynt IV

Image made during a very rainy and cloudy day while hiking in the Assynt in the north-western part of Scotland. With the composition I wanted to use the lines of the rock in the right foreground and direct the eye deep into the valley and have the viewer return using the lighter part of the clouds and the stream lin in the valley back to the rock. Image was made with a Sony A7R and Sony Zeiss 24-70/4 lens
The image was converted to BW using the LR and slightly adjusted NIK SilverEfex.

Very nice tonality and detail. I find my eye going back and forth between the the rock on the right and the peak on the left. So, you might want to consider cropping some from the right. Otherwise, I like this a lot.

Maciej,

I agree with Preston on the tones. Just right given the conditions, weather etc.  I do like the composition as presented; it's nicely balanced and I think you accomplished exactly what you wanted in having the rock and line of the ridge leading the eye in to the scene. My eye follows right down the slope in to what looks, or appears like a bowl area. Then I explore the rest of the scene and the expanse of the landscape.  I like this more the longer I view it.

I'm drawn right into the valley to gaze at the different formations and the weathers mood.  Nice textures, forms.  I like this a lot.

Very moody Maciej and wonderful B&W.  The tonality is spot on as others have mentioned.

Nice details, the large version is a pleasure to look at! You certainly captured the essence of Scotland, because the first thing that popped in my mind was "Scotland!".

I like the composition a lot, never been a fan of NIK B&W conversoins, they all look too much alike.

Kudoes for getting out in the weather and finding a great and moody image. Almost all days provide opportunities for the alert and determined.

Thanks for sharing!  T

I like the mood portrayed in this image. One thing I find with black and white is that there is a creativity with how the frame is reduced to simplistic parts. It also allows the individuals thoughts and emotions resonate. While I think this image is well thought out, my personal style is more from a darkness point of view.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Maciej,

I agree on the wonderful tones presented to us in this fine capture. My feelings are of a somber and reflective nature as I enjoy this image. The image makes me think, or reflect on life, and this is all really good stuff.
