Melted Frost

This was a shady area of the Yosemite valley and it took until late afternoon until the frost melted off. This image is a nod to the work of Jackson Pollock, at least photographically speaking. In other words, it is intentionally pure chaos. sad

I think this is wonderful, Harley. I find the arcing grasses and gently curving leaves to be very appealing with all being set off by the tiny droplets. A fine example of extracting order from chaos.

This has to be seen large, everyone!

Harley,

You know I already love this one.  What makes this for me actually kinda goes against those Pollock paintings... the main sprig just left of center actually provides a resting place for the eye - subtle, but important, at least for me.  But overall, you've done a great job of capturing the chaos, yet containing it. I think you've struck the perfect balance between what's in focus, out of focus and depth. Beautifully seen and excellent job translating what you saw/wanted in to something presented.

Harley, I really enjoy looking at this image and it get even better larger. The fine water drops add such a nice touch to this and colors are perfect. Really nice work on this. I agree with Lon about that main sprig left of center being a very important part of this composition. Excellent work!

I really like the lattice work sense to this image. The blurred background works very well with the sharp network of lines across the entire foreground. Well conceived and nicely done. Don't know what to suggestions to make. There are two bright horizontal white stems on the bottom right quadrant that draw your eyes. I think the idea here is to not have a main point of focus but to have your eyes endlessly roam everywhere.

Yes.  I really like the lattice work but wonder how much better this may be in high contrast B&W.

Oh wow, this is well done! This is a comp that is not easy to see and capture. I like the effect the chaos has, since I can't seem to be able to determine wether parts are in front or behind each other, which makes me go around the photo the whole time. Very intriguing effect, I must say. Great work!

I'm on the fence on this one, Harley. A good reperesentation of chaos, no doubt, but I have the kind of mind that gets upset by chaos...cheeky
On the plus side, the tiny droplets of melted frost are really cute!!

Hi Harley,

I am having a hard time with this image, but I think I will have to come back to it. I think my brain is trying to figure out a pattern and trying to pull out all the details, but this image is about letting chaos be present. Maybe it is about letting go and just going with it.

the delicateness of the grasses and water droplets are a wonderful aspect of this image, and I maybe am coming around to it as I think less and enjoy more.

Well Mr H, this is certainly about nuance.  I spent a good while, and a nice single malt, perusing this image.  Love the lattice work and droplets on the fore screen of focus.  Nicely seen.  I think what could have really improved this image is some back lighting, but I gotta hand it to you,  you find some amazing sheet.
