Georgia Autumn re-post

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments! Here goes a slightly different image, taken at the same time and with the same settings as the previous one, point of view a little bit to the right of the other one. The images were taken with a manual focus prime, and I did not have any other lens with me, on purpose, so no possibility of changing the field of view. You can always crop, but I don't like to throw away pixels cheeky

I'm on the fence between them, any preferences?

Thanks again!

Alberto,

The large view is really beautiful! And works very well for me.  I can definitely understand the varying opinions about the log/rock in the previous image.  I like the sparkle that the highlights in the water bring.  This one stands by itself and works beautifully; peace and quiet.

I especially like what is happening in the background. the colors and textures of the trees are a treat.

I definitely prefer the first post. I like the wider view and its perspective.

I am with Harley on the first one.  It seems to have more balance and crispness.

I liked the view in the first image, minus the log and rock, but this works well, too, since the view seems a little more compact. The colors look nice, and I like what's going on in the water.

I still have concerns about the lack of any detail in the deep shadow areas. One think I try to do is to keep dead black areas small, i.e. so that they don't become a distraction, but potentially aid the composition.

I relly like the soft Autumn color in this, Alberto.

I definitely like this one better.  Seems a bit better balanced to me.  Beautiful serene image.  Love the colors and textures.

Now that I see a composition without the log/rock I must admit that I actually start to appreciate the log and rock a bit more. They give a bit more of a sense of openness. This one on the other hand has a bit more of a peaceful feeling to it. Hard to choose between them, they both have their own qualities!

The larger image is very impressive - the varying colors are spectacular and I like the slow, lazy flow of the stream (without it becoming "ghostly").  Very nice

I liked the original image a little better, but both are very nice.  I'll have to try the one lens per outing idea, I would feel somewhat naked without my pack full of stuff.
