This is the same Cedar as my earlier image. I processed this one a bit differently, and shot it from a different angle.

Hey Preston,

Yup, it's charred tree week! Should I post another one next?  sad

I love this one!  And prefer it a bit over your previous rendition.  I like the design having most of the char kind of surrounding the exposed, unburned wood; faintly resembling a heart shape.  I love the rich color, blacks and the sheen of the charred wood. This just has a very solid arrangement of elements. This will make a beautiful print.

The only suggestion I have would be a slight burn of the LL quarter area. Not a big deal, just one of those tweaks for potential improvement of an already great image.

This is real nice, Preston!  I might consider burning the right side lighter grays down a bit, but that is getting picky. I like it a lot.

The warm reddish brown tones of the non charred part of the tree take more prominence here being framed by the textures of the char.  I think this image makes that point more clearly and I like it the best of your charred tree imges you have posted so far.  The portrait mode orientation improves the overall feeling I get from the photo.  Good job.

Excellent texture Preston. Would love to see this as a huge enlargement.

I like this one better than the previous, although it was excellent as well, Preston. In this version, the red, warm areas actually mimic fire (especially the lower area), and this version is therefore more dramatic to me. Excellent ++.

I think I like the other one more, by a small margin. Somehow the processing is more appealing (though I can't explain why, just how it looks), and I like the composition more, I feel there is more balance between charred and healthy bark.

Let me just say I think you are barking up the wrong tree. frown

Seriously, another fine image. I agree to maybe darken the area on the LL.

Very tough choice, but I think I prefer the other one a tiny bit more. Which means that this is still excellent....
