OK, OK, not so wild, but this is my first "wildlife" shot with my new camera
After being photographing over 9 years !!!! with my Canon EOS 30D I decided it is time to make an update to my equipment. A few days ago I posted a photo for discussing the changes that digital photography has brought to us and as it is with PCs, Laptops, and many other technical stuff, one needs to keep up to date from time to time.
Brad's arguments that i.e. the white balnce ( WB ) has improved, but also many other things is normal in this type of technology. Anyhow if one experienced that by doing own test, then it is really surprising what happend. I know, for many of you this is not new, and I expected it, but I needed to run my own verification ( maybe that is typical german

).
These days I decided to stay with Canon, altough I have seen that the sensors from Nikon ( Sony ) seem to be better, which was not the case at the time I bought my Canon EOS 30D. Because of that I was thinking in making a system change and that has leaded my to have a look also to others, like Olympus which I have had already in my radar some years ago because of their fantastic 2.8/90- 250 telezoom ( 180 - 500mm full frame ) which could be used with 1.4x or 2x extenders. From reviews I read the sensors have practically the performance of a Canon EOS 7D MKII, which was my choise if I would stay with Canon.
Finally after a few days I decided to stay with Canon, especially due to the high investments that I made in my lenses. One of the pro arguments for the Canon EOS 7D MKII is the fast auto focus ( AF ) that has been accomplished also in reviews, but I was also noticing that my EOS 30D has had some AF problems with my 2.8/70-200L, and of course the AF speed of the 30D cannot reach what todays cameras can do, altough here and there I was very surprised how good it worked with my 2.8/300L even with the extenders.
Here the techs of this special "Wild Cat": Canon EOS 7D MKII, EF 2.8/70-200L, F2.8, 1/250s, ASA1600, handheld

Actually I processed both pictures identically, photographed in RAW, coverted to TIF with Canon Digital Imaging, reduced in size with Photoshop CS2 and stored as JPEG. The JPEG from the 30D was about 750kB in size, while the JPEG with the 7D MKII was less then 500kB, also an indicator af less noise since the compression was higher. In TIF the differences are even more obvious ...
