A third view of the silver fox from San Juan Island - I was able to clone two grasses from the face and I love the eye conact here.  Some selective brightening and darkening throughout the image

Nikon D7100 80-400mm VR HH @ 290mm
f/8
1/500s
ISO 400

Cropped to about 85%, adjustments in Perfect Effects 8 and CS6

A nice shot, Luke!  The intense focus of the fox on it's prey is the best part.  Classic composition and excellent exposure also.

Luke,

this image is great since one feels the tension which make it very interesting. Well done also due to the good eye contact.

Luke: very well done. The intensity of the look on the face of the fox makes the shot. Congrats! Richard

Nice, Luke. I agree with the others, but I especially like the position in the frame. Room to move into.  Great job!

I agree the eyes are special here.  I appreciate the almost liquid nature of the sunlit eye!  Techs look fine.  My only wish, probably beyond possibility for you, would have been an eye level point of view.

I like the raised paw and feel like he is moving through the grasses towards me. I do wish the POV was a little less from a downward angle, but not sure if you could have done anything about it...both from your position and because of the tall grasses.
