An old female leopard on the lookout for breakfast. We were able to follow her as the tried to hunt all morning during the Wild Eye Wildlife Photography Seminar held at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand earlier this year. I love the autumn colours and the morning light filtering through - and as such the photo is more about the moment and mood than about the subject itself.

Techs:
Nikon D800
Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II
f4.0 | 1/800 SS | ISO-320

Wow, Morkel. This is so stunning. The morning light really sets the mood of this image. This is a great example of capturing a moment. You can definitely tell this leopard is keeping an eye out for breakfast. The behind-view of the animal is almost inviting the viewer to go along for the hunt. Nice job!

Morkel,

a very nice image that tells a lot about what is going on. I like the inclusion of the habitat, which not only is nice due to the light conditions, but also because it frames nicely the leopard, focusing the view to it.

Morkel: I really like the color palette which is emphasized by the soft light. The chosen aperture makes the cat stand out well against the oof background. Well done. Richard

Love the subtle yet awesome light Morkel. This leopard looks like he is contemplating something. Great shot.

Nice comp on this one Morkel. I especially like how the light in the woods above the animal gives a feel of what direction she is headed in. Nice work.

Cool.  Your processing has her nicely lifted from the more muted surroundings.  When viewed on a monitor the effect is slightly unnatural, imo, but I am confident that when printed it would be perfect for stunning impact.  Fine work.

I hope she managed to catch something, she definitely looks like she could do with some food. Beautiful light in the background and she's posing nicely in front of it...
Grt, Ingrid.
