Iced leaves on the Merced River.

While Lon was making his recently posted ice image, I found this nice group of willow leaves encased in ice that reflected the clear blue sky.

Hey Preston,

You know my thoughts on this one - I like this!   There's a lot going on, but the main story for me is the interaction be  of the warm and cool colors, but more than that, the ice patterns vs. the various states of the leaves being encase in ice.  There is also some hint of what's beneath the surface.  I also like the framing of the long, curved stem at the top - frames the scene nicely.

Not sure how you could manage it specifically, but my only suggestion might be to take the leaves and perhaps drop the exposure a skosh, but at the same time make the leaves a little warmer? That could accentuate the warm/cool contrasts.  Minor thought though.  Nicely seen buddy!

Preston, I like the coolness in this and to me it is a shape/texture thing.  The little bits of color make it more interesting but if you are trying to get across how cool it was, you have succeeded.

For such a simple image, there is a lot to take in.  This is pretty cool,  Preston.  Love the color combo, the texture of ice, and the arrangement of leaves.  BTW....I like your titling system, easy to keep track of.

Nicely balanced image.  The colors, contrasts, and textures are very appealing.

The light yellowish leaves against the contrasting dark blue ice is great, Preston, and the ice adds interesting texture. I like it. I am very impressed with the images of a different, subtle side of Yosemite you guys are posting. Excellent work.

Nicely done, Preston.  Of course, I don't know how the image as posted was cropped from the original framed image.  But I think that the top and side borders as presented here seem a little tight to me.  I'd like to see just a little more space along those three borders.

I enjoyed being able to get some nice ice/leaf compositions in Zion early last month.

I love this. I love the contrast of warmer and cooloer tones. The textures of the ice is another interesting thing in this image. You composed a nicely balanced image here.

Hi Preston crying I find the bright vivid  colors are in perfect harmony  with the graphic detail  of  the very pleasing  patterns  of the ice and  leaves..

I really like how the leaves stand out against the blue reflected light.  Wonderful intimate glimpse of nature.

Beautiful work Preston. I like the detail in the blue below the surface. That extra dimension is what makes this image superior to other current ice images.
