Cool Gray Jay

Taken w/Canon SX50HS
settings:  f/6   1/1600  ISO 400  56mm  spot metering

This shot was taken in Algonquin PP, on a hazy cloud covered day. The Gray Jays here are almost tamed. They will frequently allow themselves to be hand fed to a point where they expect it. They are friendly and gregarious, and usually will offer some great opportunities for photos. This one I shot was one of two, who were watching me take photos and decided that I should take one of them, so he posed in the tree not  six feet away. All in all I got quite a few very good shots that day.

Any comments are appreciated and welcomed.

Nice work with the SX50!  Good color and detail.  Sharpness is good.  While I like the blue sky, I do find it a bit distracting.  Possibly darkening it some would help.  Thanks for sharing.

Jim,

the overall setup is very nice, rich colors, and the image looks technically OK considering the camera you were using. From composition point of view I would have like to see more space in the left site and less at the right since the bird is looking to the left.

Excellent, Jim.  Beautiful detail  and you did a nice job on the exposure.  I remember backpacking into a mountain lake with a friend who brought a dog.  These birds would take the dog food literally from between your feet.
