Shore Acres SP, Oregon

Besides the incredible wave action at Shore Acres there were a number of places on the cliff faces that offered some interesting abstract possibilities. I liked the textures in the surrounding rocks and the color of what seems to be freshly exposed sandstone. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill, Everything here works and looks just wonderful to me. I liked this comp right off and still do! I wondered a bit about the lrc but after looking at the large version (fantastic) I thought it even added more interest to this "Flaky" scene. Great lines, shapes, colors and amazing textures. This is really nice!devil

You know I'm a sucker for these rockscapes!  This is really dynamic - so much to see and enjoy - gives me a warm glow, and anytime an image does that, it's a good thing.

Bill,

Small version, I'm ready to swear this is tree bark!  Ok, so the larger version helps me out a little bit.  Fascinating geology, graphis, contrasts and color.  this is beautiful Bill and would be gorgeous in print - I'm sure.  No nits or suggestions.

I would have sworn this was a tree... Love how the golden part peaks through a "window" in the rock. Well seen and captured!

What a great find. That light sandstone has such a beautiful texture. The whole thing reminds me of those leaping antelopes on the ceiling of that ancient cave in France. I do think that the lrc and the knob in the center far right are not helping. I'm wondering how a small crop from the right would affect everything.

Well, I immediately recognised it as rock. But in fact I don't care what it is. The image is just great, lines, shapes, textures, colours in soft light. I might be tempted to crop out the differently coloured spot in the lrc together with the 'button' just above the middle right. But that is only minor, for me it does not affect the impression of a beautiful image.

Looks like a rapidly eroding sandstone to me so I looked up the geology and sure enough all that flaking is from the marine exposure on the Oregon coast.  I have never explored this area thoroughly but the information I have states there are many fossils present in the rock formation.  This is a wonderful abstract Bill.  Teriffic textures colors, lines.  You got it all in this one.

Well seen and imaged, Bill. I like the subject, comp, detail, and color. This image (and Lon's recent rockscape) tells me that I need to find and shoot some rock abstracts.

A lovely abstract, Bill.  The are some fine contrasts here, warm/cool, sharp/smooth, and bright/dark that are very nicely balanced throughout the image.  Definitely a beauty.

I love abstracts and this fits that catagory rather nicely, Bill. My first impression was that of tree back, but upon closer inspection I noticed it was a rock face. The textures and earth tones work beautifully together in this scene. Nice diagonals also. Glad you looked down and spotted this beauty.

Hi Bill,

A beautiful intimate image of some fine sandstone. The color of the exposed sandstone reminds me of a gold, bronze, and rust combination that is very stimulating. I really like the placement of the burst of color, and how it contrasts with the rest of the image.

sweet work
