I have been a long time lurking admirer of the fine work on this site. This is my first post taken last year on a cold morning on Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) in Anhui province, China. Appreciate your comments/suggestions. Thanks, Dave

This is spectacular.  It's like Thomas Cole mixed with a Chinese or Japanese landscape painting from the 1700s.  I might be inclined to crop a tish off the top (where the clouds lose color and mix with blue sky) so the sky doesn't compete with the amazing mountain details.

Welcome aboard, Dave, and what a first post.  Love everthing about this.  It's exotic, it's dramatic, very well composed, and very well executed. I look forward to seeing more of your work and reading your comments on the images of others.  Beautiful job.

Welcome to NPN Dave!  Now with this first post, you're setting a pretty high standard!  What a grand and dramatic image!  What a grand combination of geology, atmosphere, light and color.

Not sure I have anything to critique or suggest.  A terrific image. Thanks for posting and we look forward to more of your images.

Lon

ps. Harley didn't put you up to this did he?  I mean he knows everyone in Santa Barbara. laugh

Welcome to NPN Dave, and thanks for sharing this refreshing image! This one is all about perspective and exposure, and you did a great job in my opinion.

Cropping the blue area of the sky might be an option, although the shapes of the clouds add to the dynamics of the composition for me. I appeciate and enjoy your image as it is.

First off, welcome to NPN, David. You captured some wonderful dynamics with your first post. I love the atmospherics and POV in this scene. My only suggestion; and this is just my personal preeference; wouldd be a touch more detail in the peak on the right. Looking forward to more of your posts and do not be afraaid to comment on other's works.

A spectacular photo from this location. I like the symmetrical composition which is not something one usually sees from here.
