The blue tones and textures in the water (along with the 3 areas catching sunlight) here really make this image.  I find the brightness of the yellow leaf a bit much and would tone it down a hair.  The texture and color of the moss is a good anchor.

This is very cool, Preston.  Love the diagonal presentation and the lone golden leaf .  The only thing that could be better would be if the leaf on the first rock had a little more golden tone.  Minor thought on a wonderful image.

Preston,
I love your work.  This is a terrific image just the way it is.  It has the feel of a Monet to me, and is very evocative!  I am curious to see the photo with the suggestions before mine made to see what could happen, but if your hand is "pat" don't take any more cards.

Beautiful images series "Yosemite details" that you proposed. In the latter I like the composition, light and tone.

Preston,

I LOVE this one!  Was this the same area as your last image and my blue and gold one?  I didn't remember you working the water there. Guess I just wasn't paying attention. ;-)

The leaf and rocks are great anchors for this intimate river scene.  For me though, it's the texture of the water that really makes this come to life for me.  What a great choice on shutter speed - the texture is wonderful.

I suppose you could knock down the brightness on the leaf, but that's very minor.

Perhaps my second favorite - or is it third, fourth favorite....  Great work with this one.

Lon

Your images are often defined by a tranquil mood, without using classical subject matter that usually associated with these moods, like fog, or the morning rise over a lake. That's the case with this one here as well, very calming and understated.

Real nice image. I could see knocking down the big leaf a little, but very minor. The blues work very well here. I really like the variety of tones in the water.

Very nice, Preston. I like the look of the yellow leaf as is. You also have some very nice color and subtle texture in the water. My only suggestion, if you are so inclined, would be to clone out the leaf on the lower rock, and the small leaf on the upper rock, so that the large yellow leaf is the only focal point. I think this would improve the mood of this fine image. crying

I do not  know what your SS was , but it was perfect for creating all  that fantastic water texture, Preston. I also like that hint of warm color in the cool blue of the water. This is just a personal preference, but what do you think aabout cloning out that small yellow leaf on the rock on the right? I think that would make the big maple leaf the star of the image.

Well it looks like you outdid your buddy Lon with this subject. Great image. Perfect composition. The water in the ulc is really fascinating to look at. I don't find the yellow leaf too bright but I would prefer that the other rock not have that green leaf at all. I find it distracting somewhat. Otherwise this is one of your best, if not the best, recent image.

Beautiful, tranquil image, Preston.  The minute detail you have achieved in the water is quite remarkable and I love the composition and the color.

Superb!!!  I like the angle created by the orientation of the rocks and the flow of the water.  My personal inclination would be for less blue saturation.  Of course, this is a personal preference, and also depends on the composition.  But in my opinion it's a little too strong for my tastes in this image.  That said, this composition is my favorite from your Yosemite series so far.

Preston,
Very well composed and pleasing image. You've effectively brought together a nice mix of cool and warm tones.
I also think you could try and burn down the yellow leaf as it is a bit bright.
