Icy Ecstasy

I was stopped in my tracks, not just by the icy and snowy path ahead and not wanting to disturb the scene with my footprints, but also by the warm glow of the canyon wall in the background complementing the wintry wash.  It's a view of Zion which I am rarely fortunate to witness.

Jim, the glow in the distance is a special addition here.  The snowy view up the waterway has some fine details and the sprinkling of greens and snow covered branches adds a fine touch of contrasting color and texture.  Definitely a beauty.

Beautiful composition, interesting colors. The illuminated wall in the background attract attention by increasing the interest in the scene. I like.

Extremely interesting patterns! There's nothing quite like snow on the red rocks. The light you've caught here is splendid. I would suggest cropping a little from the bottom. Well done!

Warm canyon glows are very special and I think can really make many canyon country images.  The addition of the light dusting of snow on the canyon floor has created an unusual color combination here.  This is very nice.

Jim,

So I'm guessing this is a hint at the environment you had been finding all those wonderul intimates? frosted leaves and ice? Perhaps none found in this undisturbed section, but an ideal of the surrounds.

Anyway, the ice covered sand is a great lead in to this wintery landscape.  Excellent comp.  The only very minor nit for me is the bright red leaf in the LR. Very small, very minor, but that's right where my eye went when opening this up.  Otherwise, it's great to see the "big picture." Beautifully captured.

Lon, this photograph and the icescapes and snowscapes are all from the same general area in the eastern region of the park.  However, the frosted leaves series and the two photographs of the frosted tree trunk are from a different area at a lower elevation where no snow had fallen.

Lovely, Jim.  I wish the brush at the entrance to the narrowing wash were a little smaller or more interestingly shaped, but heck, we just can't go pruning our way around national parks.  I love the patterns in the ice, the bits of rock in the wash, andof course that wonderfully orange glow on the rock walls.

I simply love the glow on the rock wall in the BG and you used the wash as the perfect lead in to it, Jim. The dusting of snow adds another wonderful element to the image. I think I changed my mind as this might be my favorite of your recent posts.

Well composed to lead the viewer right to the beautiful reflected light, Jim. Fine Zion image.

Reall nice Jim.  I agree with Lon on the small very red leaf in the lower right.  There is also one on the ledge below the bush.  Other than that, oustanding.
