Look At Me!

Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 400, 1/400 @ f8

I haven't been shooting, processing or posting much lately but this morning on my way to the mailbox this hibiscus practically yelled at me to get off my duff and bring out the camera. Had to contend with the wind, thus the shallow DOF. With temperatures in the 80's it doesn't feel a lot like Christmas around here but at least this beauty dispensed some holiday cheer. All comments welcome. >=))>

Excellent choice of focal plane, Bill, and a sweet image.  I always look forward to your posts as they usually give me a different point of view.

Hi Bill - love it! Great choice of focus the shallow dof works really very well and wonderful colours i can see why you wanted to shoot this regardless of weather.  Personally, I would also like a square crop here, losing a little from bottom and just over 1/3 from the right - it would place even more emphasis on the in-focus part of the image, with the oof lines of the petals taking the eye back to this area of the image.
Cheers, Mark

Lovely colors, Bill. I could wish for more dof, but that is, I suspect, a personal preference.sad

Bill,

Wonderful!  Great choice with depth of field and the perspective looking down in to the flower works beautifully.  One thought that jumped in to my mind right away was "Bloody Mary."   I really like how the yellow is set against those deep reds.
