I want to like you...

...but I am a bit afraid of humans, because I am feral, and some humans think that feral is a four letter word. But I am smarter than them and I know that it has five letters, and that we feral creatures of all species have the same right to enjoy long and happy lives free of suffering, hunger and pain as any other sentient being. Because, no matter what you think, we are sentient in our own way. Your species is not special, just different. Some time ago one of my cousins (he is old and wise) told you more about this story. There are some good humans who look after us, and the guy who took the picture seemed really friendly and even brought us some treats, but we feel safer if we don't let you get close. Just make sure that you leave the treats behind before you go away. In case you are wondering about my eyes, in our little colony by the ocean most of us are "Siamese-Tabbies". Humans talk about "breeds" and "points" and things like that, but we think of ourselves as just cats. The most perrrfect prrrroducts of evolution.....

The guy who took the picture says: "Lumix LX-7, ISO 400, 1/30 sec at f8". I have no idea what all of this means....

Excellent image, Alberto, and a cool story to go with it.  This one looks like almost pure Siamese.  Those wanting the old fashioned version of the breed may need to look to your local colony before long as most of the breeders seem to have gone to extremes lately.

Incredible image quality for 1/30 sec exposure.

Those eyes! They are hypnotizing! You captured an absolutely magnificent profile of this cat, really using the light to your advantage. The expression on its face tells a whole story I think.

Great narrating too, also the previous cat post, which I appparently missed back then.

Hi Alberto,

I really like this post - love the dark, moody image (and those eyes!!), and your commentary goes nicely with it. Even the dwelling in the background provides context and supports the whole concept of the "shadowy world right under our nose". There is definitely controversy surrounding the whole issue of ferals (the strength of which varies dramatically geographically) but your "first person" (or should I say "first cat") commentary presents an interesting perspective and should provoke some thought!

VERY well done... cheers...

Alberto,

very nice story and the image is great for it. Cats are somehow very nice subjects to be photographed and this is no exception. The stare, the curiosity in the eyes and the alert pose are great. Technically fine as well.

Really, really well done.  I love the blue eyes and range of darks and lights.
