Not Iceland

Here's one I shot in Patagonia, I was out on a glacier trying to find an ice cave with an outlook on the famous mountain Cerro Torre. I wanted a cave to frame the mountain so this wasn't what I had planned, I just took a quick snap shot. When I got it on the computer I realised how nicely the gravel leads the eye through the image. The cave actually comprised of three arches which allowed light and a dusting of snow to spread throughout the scene. I returned a few weeks later but the arches had collapsed.

Those blues are gorgeous, and so are the structures of the ice walls. Having a person there gives a nice sense of scale, because I would not have expected the cave to be this big actually. If you can get some info back in the highlights in the distance than that would be the icing on the cake for this already amazing photo!

Wow! Exceptional! (Also reminds me of the intro to a Bond film.)

I guess that snow in the upper background is just too white to bring much out of it. I tried taking a more action based image from here with me rapelling into the cave from the top but that image had none of the light dusting of snow so it wasn't as impressive.

Very beautiful picture. Excellent composition and perspective. Beautiful details of the ice in the foreground and the silhouette of man in the right place!

Really great colors and composition. The person adds a lot to the image, for a sence of scale and he also adds interest.

Andrew: an intriguing and unique photo. It would have been interesting enough without the human figure and is even moreso with the human figure. Congrats on making the photo. Richard

Love the echo effect of the multiple ice arches Andrew.  Yes, I agree the gravel adds a nice lead in and the person adds a wonderful sense of scale to the scene.

Nicely done! This looks great, and the figure adds a sense of scale. The blues really set this one off.
