Rugged Beauty

This is some rugged Connecticut scenery from a couple of months back. I was glad I had the camera along for this hike, as the reddish cliffs showed off the foliage nicely.

Mark,

Excellent autumn and fall color image.  I'd be hard pressed to believe this is Connecticut, enlightened as this could be out west somewhere. Then again, we don't have the hardwoods that turn red like you find in the east.

I really like the combo of the rock walls and the scattering and variety of color throughout the entire frame. This is nicely balanced as well.

The only suggestion I have would be a slight processing adjustment.  This is very minor, but I could see a curves or levels adjustment to increase some midtone contrast; mostly in the lower 1/3 and the trees at the bottom.  This isn't a suggestion to correct anything, but more of a tweak to make this pop just a little more.

Still enjoying this very much as presented.

Wow Mark, I thought it could have been the eastern Sierra or some of the canyons near Zion,  Wnderful mix of colors and textures.  I think you could bring the exposure down a little, at least on my screen.  The top boarder a little bright, and there are no deep shadows to begin with.  Nice find.

Nice collection of autumn colors, and I like how the trees are scattered around the rocks, each finding their own little spot. I agree with the suggested tweak from Lon, although I also agree with him that this is already nice as is!

This looks like basalt.  I like the image and I think Lon's suggestion would bring out more detail in the rock.   A very nice place in CT.

Great pop of color! I like Lon's suggestion and I would be inclined to clone out the top of the tree stick up from the bottom center of the frame. That bright spot on the bottom edge pulls my eye a bit.

Very nice, Mark. Fine collection of interesting rocks and colorful trees. I could see a slight bump in contrast.

This is a lovely mix of colors and rocks, Mark.  A fine, almost abstract.  I do think a gentle burn along the right half of the very top would help keep eyes in the frame.  Well seen.

Nice painterly image.  Straddles well that line between abstract and representational.
