Winter Light on 450-8
by Gary Minish
An Oil Spill Barge (#450-8) in the foreground with the sunlit mountains on the opposite end of the Valdez Bay in the background. The mountains are approximately 10 miles away and the water is warmer than the air so you get a lot of atmospheric distortion just above the water (at the horizon in this case). Being zoomed in at 200mm (300mm equiv.) helped compress the view which makes the mountains even more imposing.
