Unfortunately for a couple birds, Coopers Hawks have visited our backyard on several occassions, not always sucessful, but as in this case stayed for lunch.  Taken through a window.

It looks concerned that you might be wanting to steal it's lunch, John!  It's a nice capture with excellent exposure and colors.  It seems just a bit soft.  I suspect a little extra sharpening is all it needs.

John, we've said for many years that we feed "ALL" the birds at our backyard feeders.  That has included Red Shouldereds, Coopers and Sharp-Shinneds catching everything from Junkos to Starlings.  This is a good look at this hawk and it's prey, yes there's a subtle softness probably due to the window, but it's a very good look at the hawk and that "glare" that their large yellow eyes have.

Nice colors and lighting on the hawk.

Well that's quite a visitor, John! Raptors are somewhat terrifying as predators/carnivores, and you can surely get a sense of that here.

My neighbor had the same problem...a white-tailed hawk roosted in a nearby tree waiting for birds to visit their feeder...very opportunistic!  A very nice pose here John; as if he's saying, "Would you mind not staring while I dine"  enlightened  Lighting is nice and the mix of brown and white feathers makes him look really streamlined.
