Mono Electric Sunset

This image was taken at Mono Lake last month. The roads into Mono closed, so I hiked in solo to the south west shore from 395. The sunset was spectacular and I found myself running around trying to find additional compositions before the light faded. The magenta tint from the raw file was so strong I ended up backing it down to -50 in LR. I did my best to try and match the scene as I recalled it. Comments, suggestions and critiques appreciated.

The colors are beautiful, and I can understand the challenge that this sort of colors sometimes cause. But you did very well, I think. The only suggestion would be to try to crop a bit off the bottom, but it also works as shown.

This is excellent Dave. Love the reflection and the colors all around.  Nice to see Mono without Tufa being the star. Well worth the effort to hike in.  Beautiful.

A very good capture of Mono Lake - fresh because without a dominant tufa structure. The colors look believable. I have been to this place and got some color like this, too.

Wow, the world has gone pink.  Having the snow on the foreground to reflect the sky colors works very well here at creating an overall color that gets accentuated nicely by the blue tones on the right.  I also like the big sweeping feeling that you've got here.

Holy smokes, that is quite a spectacle that is going on in the sky! No nits, this is great!

WOW, I've been AWOL but still looking at everyone's wonderful work and this needed a comment. This is so unique and the light is to die for. Sweet comp, too. devil

My minor, take-it-or-leave it suggestion would be to brighten the mid-range pinks in the sky on the left side. They seem a skosh muddy to me.

The detailed large view is stunning and the color reproduces much better than the regular image.

Dave,

A wonderful and refreshing look from Mono Lake.  this looks like it may have been down-shore from the Old Marina?

The mirror finish on the lake is wonderful as is the color of the sky/clouds and dusting of snow on the mountains.  My first impression was that this has the real feel of a panoramic scene - I could see cropping a bit up from the bottom for a more narrow look which would emphasize the long edge of the far shoreline.  But that would be just an alternate idea and not a fix for anything.

This is beautiful.

Dave,
Love the shot of the lake in winter.  You certainly worked for the shot.  The colors are simply lovely and I really like the composition.  Wonder what it would look like if the bottom were cropped as previously suggested.
