Texas Great Honed Owl

I captured this Great Horned Owl on a trip to Honey Creek Natural Area in south Texas. I will be the first to admit that the IQ is not stellar. The owl was a long way away, so this is a fairly substantial crop. It was also hand held. However, this was my first opportunity to photograph this species. I was lucky he was in the open with good light. I thought it was good enough to share. Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

The heavy crop cost you some detail, especially noticeable in the close view. But a good capture and a fine comp; it's not common to see the species in full light. They tend to me more crepuscular. Good use of the opportunity.

Congrats on having your Horned Owl. Never seen one so out in the open during daytime, which it makes it quite interesting an image to me ! Thanks for sharing, cheers, Hans

The branches are interesting but seem to detract somewhat, esp the top branch.  I'd love to see this owl closer up.
