Herewith a second shot of the Great Northern Loon, this time with a freshly caught Eastern Crayfish (at least that's what I assume, since they are an invasive species here in The Netherlands).

Nikon @ 700mm | 1/200s | f6.3 | ISO900 | underexposed 4/3 EV | camera & me on the quay

Thanks for viewing and have a nice weekend,

Hans

Sweet!  Love the low angle, nice head turn and comp.  Nicely captured.

Very nice Hans.  I am really impressed with how sharp your images are especially at higher iso.  You are getting quite close to the ducks.  Only a minor nit here is a lack of detail in the crayfish but the light wasn't the best and the crustacean is dark.

Hi Hans,

Well done.  The soft, subtle lighting and dark warm BG make this a very successful image.  You could probably tease out a little more detail in the crayfish with some editing on the prey.  Other than that--very nice.........................Jim

Very good! I like the crawfish, and the beads of water on the Loon's head. Has anyone figured out if these bad boys are good eating?cool

Wonderful composition, pose, and I love the effect of the underexposure.  The prey put this one over the top for me.

Wow this picture of the NORTHERN LOON is awesome. I really like how he has a crayfish in his mouth. I also like the water droplets on his head.
