This is Havoc our Bernese mountain dog who is aptly named for the chaos and mayhem that he can generate.  K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (1/125sec at f8.0 ISO 500) fill at -2ev Luminosity masks for Lights-1 & Darks-3, Brightness & Contrast, Levels, crop for comp...........................Jim

I was hoping you'd show up in this Weekly Challenge with some of your Bernese and Newf images, Jim! This is a beautiful portrait of Havoc. I love the regal feel to the pose and the alert eye and head position. To my eye, the image could hantle a bit more contrast or further levels adjustment (black point up and white point down). It's a great shot and worthy of tweaking to perfection IMO (and I'm only suggesting the above changes as something I would try if it were mine...each of us has our own preferences on such things and you of course have Havoc right there with you so you surely know better than I!). laugh

He's a handsome fellow, Jim.  The pose and the gaze into the distance look great.  I'm with John L. in thinking that the contrast in his fur could be bumped for a bit more pop (I'd try some gentle burning through a darks-2 or darks-3 mask.

Hi Mark & John,

I was able to get a little more pop by tweaking the curve for Darks-1 and reduced overall exposure by -.3.  Thank you all for your comments and critiques...............Jim

A gorgeous dog with a regal pose, Jim.  The revised version is definitely better.  The added contrast makes it feel more 3D.

Great looking dog, Jim. Excellent portrait of Havoc at rest.  I'll bet he's a lot of exciting forward motion when he gets going!
