Thanks for your valuable suggestions. I raised the contrast with a gradient filter in the background to try and tease out the clouds. Does this improve the image?

Beautiful tones and warm light. Nice comp too! I thought there would be more snow on the mountains considering the weather we've been getting this year,

Sweet light and the composition works. In the smaller image it seemed like the sage over powered the mountains, but in the larger image it looks better.

Beautiful image, Dave. The sage makes an excellent foreground for the Eastern Sierra Mtns. Beautiful combination of warm light and cool colors. devil

I like the different layers of color here especially in the large detailed view.  Nice foreground.

Lots to like here, Dave.  The sage is complimented nicely by the wonderful light on the formations, and with a nice sky.  Since you shot this at 24mm, I would be curious to see a wider version.  To me the FG could use a little breathing room.

Nice image, Dave.  I like the in your face tonality of the fore sage and the nice light on the Sierras.  There is a dust bunny above the left peak, easy to remove.  I am wondering if the clouds can be brought out a bit more, their wispy nature could fit nicely with the comp.

The look of that sage is wonderful, and it really works well with the mountains in the background getting the last light. Nice! I do think I see a dust bunny in the sky, 1/4 from the left, above the mountain top.

Wonderful light here, Dave, and it's been masterfully handled and processed. Since the two sagebushes are so prominent and cut off on both edges, I could see some additional cropping off the bottom to reduce/eliminate the darkest areas along the edge. I agree with gary's comment about teasing some more out of the sky.

I think that I prefer the second version, but by a small margin. I would increase the contrast on the sage too, though, I think it would bring out even more the beautiful detail that you have there.

Dave,

I loved this the moment I opened it, even with just the normal view.  The warm morning light on the snow dusted Sierra are beautiful enough, but I'm really loving the sage.  I especially think the color/hue is most beautiful.  I love the cyan/greenish hue of the inner bush; it's such a beautiful compliment to the rest of the scene.

Yes, the sage is quite dominant and one might even say they "block" the scene, preventing the eye from entering the scene, but at least for me, this is somewhat of a unique perspective and captures the East side in fine fashion.  Love this.

Nice view of the Sierra, love the subtle tones in the image.  The two look very similar, though difficult to view them side to side.  Using a polarizer and avoided the harsh overly dark transition in the sky, great job!

Hi Dave,

I really love the feel of this image, and it is one of those images I just want to keep looking at.  The light delicate nature of the foreground sage brush works so well with the darker brush behind it. Then, you have the wonderful light on the mountains with the complimentary blues in the sky.

A lot of interest for me, and wonderful work

I love this photo, especially the repost, and I think you've done a great job capturing this part of the Sierras here. The colors are superb, the light amazing, and I love getting the sage in front. Great job.
