Yesterday on the way back from finding a snowy owl, my wife and I stopped at a beach we'd never been to on the North Fork's north shore that featured some pretty massive boulders at the water's edge.  I used a 10 stop ND filter and a cable release to take a few different shots

Very nice subdued colors and contrasts. The sky is cool too, making for some really even light.

I like the colors, composition and the over all scene. The only thing I am not sure about is the area in the lower left. I presume it is some spray slowed way down by the slow shutter speed. It looks like some kind of ghosting.

A nice winter shoreline scene with a complex sky.  I like the comp and the line of boulders leading one to the BG.

This is very nice nice, Luke.  I think the slowed exposure works for everything but the fore left.  The ghosting of the spray is taking away from the overall beauty of this image IMO.  I like everything else including the killer sky.

Very nice how the structure of the beach is kind of similar to the structure of the clouds. That looks like a fnatastic beach to spent some time on with all those nice pebbles and stones. The ghostly splash to the left is also a great detail!

Hi Luke,

The image sets up beautifully with your composition you chose of the shoreline. The rocks along the shoreline, and soft texture uin the water are really beautifully and bring me through the beautiful scene. Not to mention, the clouds up top are very interesting.

Beautiful view

Luke,

I really like the perspective/point of view here; getting down low to accentuate the big boulders on the beach.  The wide angle works very well too.  Colors are wonderful, especially given the diffused light; speaking of which, I love the sky!  I think the longer exposure worked wonders there.  It may be a stretch, but I like how the polished stones kind of get echoed in the cloud patterns; at least I think they compliment each other. This is an excellent seascape.

I'm a little torn on the ghost-splash.  I can't decide if it adds a dynamic interest, or if it's a distraction.  I'm wondering if you have other versions with different shapes and degree?  In the end, it's certainly doesn't ruin the scene and image for me.

Lon

Agree with Lon here.  I like this, but I'm curious about the runners up.

Luke, What a nice seascape image! I think your comp worked really nice here with all the boulders down through the shoreline. I also like the natural feel this has along with the colors.
