Canadian, Eh?

OK--must have processing brain (too many hours in front of the files this week). Sorry for the lame humour.

Nothing too special about this one, which somehow makes it special to me. Well, there is the fact this was taken on the morning my son got one of his WPY awarded shots, which means basically I got beat by a 10yr old on this day, so I'm conflicted. sad

While Jenaya was busy with Green Winged Teals and Josiah with Wood Ducks, I watched this Canada Goose swim up to the pile of earth and logs near the end of the dock and climb up on it just as the sun cracked the horizon. Nice light is nice light, and the misty background still in shadow with such a handsome goose in soft light was too much to ignore.

John: with the soft light and the bird set against the uncluttered and neutral background, this one is vey easy to like. Also nice to see one of the birds I overlook routinely get its due. My only very minor suggestion would be to dodge the bird's face forward of its eye just a bit. Fine otherwise. Richard

Nice warm tone on this doughnut seeking goose (more Canadian humor).  I like it and you have a nice image with a good BG and pose.

Lovely light, John, and the bg is awesome.  Nicely seen and photographed.

Many thanks, Richard, David and Dennis!

Richard, I have done a fair bit of work on the face and neck, but I don't disagree that a touch more might help ahead of the eye. Thank you. I also agree that it's so easy to overlook these guys, mostly because of how common they are.

Thanks again!
